Bruce Power has a three-year, $300,000 commitment to the Foundation

The Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada received a $150,000 donation on Tuesday (June 4) from Bruce Power which was a part of the companies three-year, $300,000 commitment that runs through 2020 in the fight against brain tumours.

Bruce Power Spokesperson John Peevers says helping the Brian Tumour Foundation is a natural fit for Bruce Power and its suppliers as the nuclear giant supplies medical-grade and sterilization Cobalt-60 isotopes.

"It's a natural partnership and one that our suppliers are keen to get behind," says Peevers.

This years donation was bumped higher by an extra $50,000 which was raised by Bruce Power and its supplier partners ahead of their annual August Golf Tournament.

"The partnership allows Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada to boost awareness, develop innovative technologies, and support those on a journey with a brain tumour", says Susan Marshall, Chief Executive Officer in a Media Release.

"Every day, 27 Canadians are diagnosed with a brain tumour, and all face limited treatment options," Marshall says.

"Sadly they are also the leading cause of cancer death in children. This is why we at Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada are so heartened by our partnership with Bruce Power, whose unstinting support helps make all the difference. Our goal is to help brain tumour patients and survivors live longer, better, and with hope. Because of the generosity of Bruce Power, whose contributions help fund critical research projects, we are able to bring hope to patients and families across Canada."

Peevers says many people at the Foundation are volunteers and Bruce Power has had many chances to listen to their success stories.

"We've done some recognition events that mean alot to them too.... It's heartwarming and it makes us even more resolved to do what we can to help."

Bruce Power is a leading supplier of medical-grade and sterilization Cobalt-60 isotopes, which help treat cancer and ensure the safety of medical tools used throughout the world's health care system. Learn more about Cobalt-60 at
