Three schools in the Avon Maitland District School Board have received Healthy School Certification from the Ontario Physical Health and Education Association (OPHEA).

North Easthope Public School is one of 148 school to achieve gold certification, while Huron Centennial Public School and St. Marys DCVI are among 83 schools to receive silver.

The Healthy School Certification asks schools to examine issues such as physical activity, healthy eating, mental health, growth and development, personal safety, and substance issues and addiction.
