Saugeen Shores Man Arrested for Drunk Driving

He was found to be three times over the legal limit

Last Thursday, (May 30) a 64 year old Port Elgin Man was arrested and charged with impaired driving and was found to be three times over the legal limit.

Saugeen Shores police say they received a citizen report of a vehicle driving on Goderich Street with a blown out tire that was shredded to the rim. 

Officers attended the area of Ivings Drive in Port Elgin and located the vehicle parked at an apartment complex.

Police say the male driver was found passed out at the wheel of the damaged vehicle and officers observed open liquor in the centre console. Upon speaking to the driver officers determined that he was intoxicated by alcohol and placed under arrest. 

He has been charged with:  Operation while impaired - Blood alcohol concentration. His licence was administratively suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. 


He was released with a promise to appear in court.

Police did not name the driver.
