Speed Reduction Measures in Walkerton

Brockton | by Robyn Garvey

Rubber speed humps to be installed on Rideout Street.

If you have the need for speed, you are best to avoid Walkerton.

At the request of the Police Board, Brockton is purchasing a pair of rubberized speed humps to locate on Rideout Street in Walkerton.

Local concern voiced over in-town speeding coupled with the data from the portable speed spy camera confirm the need to slow drivers down in Town.

Councilor and Police Board Member James Lang believes the new speed humps will do just that, serving as an effective tool to slow down drivers and deter future speeding incidents.

Police will be using the data collected from their Black Cat speed spy cam system to determine the speed hot spots around town.

This data will help Brockton determine if there is a need to order more speed humps.

Lang calls the speed humps a useful tool for police.

He notes while the OPP do a great job monitoring traffic, they can‘t be everywhere at once, making the speed humps a welcomed addition.

The rubberized speed humps will be a first for Walkerton.
