Organizers of the annual IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's in Grey Bruce are celebrating a major accomplishment.
Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce executive director Stephen Musehl says for the first time, the event raised over $100,000 to support local people who live with dementia.
"This is a 20 per cent increase over last year's total and 40 per cent growth since we launched this fundraiser four years ago," Musehl says. "The organization is so fortunate to have the support of this incredible community."
More than 600 people participated in walks held in Owen Sound, Hanover, Saugeen Shores and the Town of the Blue Mountains on May 11.
The Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce supports more than 1,000 local families with one-to-one support, education and an array of local programs and services.
