Suspected Impaired Driver Caught At Border

OPP say the Port Huron, Michigan man was drug-impaired at the wheel

For the second time this month, a US resident has been charged with impaired driving at the border in Point Edward.

Lambton OPP tell us a vehicle pulled up at the Customs Plaza during the recent holiday weekend, and the driver showed signs of impairment.

Police say they charged the man at the scene, after being called by Canada Border Services staff.

A later evaluation at detachment headquarters in Petrolia revealed he was allegedly driving under the influence of drugs.

The 54 year-old Port Huron man has a date in Sarnia Court on June 10th.
