Wes For Youth Golf Tournament

Kincardine | by Robyn Garvey

The Black Horse Golf & Country Resort in Kincardine hosts 2nd annual event.

Teeing off for a great cause, The Black Horse Golf & Country Resort in Kincardine is playing host to the second annual WES For Youth Online - Golf Classic.

Whether you are an avid golfer or if you spend most of your time trying to get out of the bunker, today is all about raising money and awareness for a great cause.

WES For Youth Online Community Relations Director Emma Martin is very excited about today’s event.

She says organizers are hoping to raise 15 thousand dollars.

All monies raised will go to support WES for Youth Online, which provides free online counseling for youth between the ages of 13 and 24 years of age in Ontario.

With 1 in 5 Canadians experiencing mental health problems or illness in their lifetime, Martin says WES For Youth wants to ensure youth have the resources and tools they need to tackle these difficulties.

However providing support to youth and their families requires money.

The average cost of a single hour of counseling is $100.

If today’s fundraiser goal of 15 thousand dollar is reached, she says that will cover 150 hours of professional online counseling for youth.

If you want to participate in today’s fundraiser but haven’t registered, Martin says it is not to late, as registration can be done on site Black Horse Golf & Country Resort in Kincardine.

It is $150 for an individual and $550 for a foursome.

The package includes: golfer gifts, bbq lunch, cart, 18 holes and a pork roast buffet dinner.

Martin says combining physical activity with mental wellness makes great sense.

She hopes everyone has a great time on the greens today.
