Three Charged in Joint Police Drug Investigation in Grey Bruce

Several local police forces commenced investigation into trafficking of fentanyl and meth in March.

Three people face drug-related charges after an investigation involving several police forces in Grey and Bruce counties.

Hanover Police say the investigation commenced back in March into the trafficking of fentanyl and methamphetamine in Grey Bruce. The effort also involved officers with Owen Sound Police, Saugeen Shores Police, West Grey Police and Ontario Provincial Police.

Police say as a result of the investigation a traffic stop of a motor vehicle was conducted yesterday at 7:45 p.m. on 8th Street in Hanover.

Officers arrested a 34-year-old female from Hanover and a 29-year-old man from Saugeen Shores.

Police say a third suspect, a 36-year-old male from Saugeen Shores, escaped custody and a foot chase ensued.

Town Police say the suspect was arrested a few blocks from the scene after a brief struggle.

Police also executed a search warrant at a residence in the 500 block of 10th Avenue in Hanover at 9 p.m. Thursday night.

Officers seized about four grams of methamphetamine, fentanyl and oxycodone. Police say supporting evidence related to drug trafficking and break-in instruments were also seized.

Police say all three accused face numerous charges and were remanded into custody for a bail hearing in Walkerton.

The 34-year-old Hanover woman and 29-year-old Saugeen Shores man both face trafficking charges.

The 36-year-old from Saugeen Shores who attempted to flee police, faces a possession charge and escape lawful custody.
