Impaired Driver Lead Into U.S. Mistakenly By GPS In Pt. Edward

Pt. Edward | by Peter Jackson

Border Services says Michigan woman charged at border, following misdirection from GPS device.

A suspected impaired driver from the US is charged in Point Edward, after the GPS in her vehicle apparently led her astray.

Lambton OPP say they were called by Canada Border Services, after the woman's car pulled up at the Customs plaza on Monday night.

A Border Services Agent believed the driver was impaired, and a police breathalyzer showed she was over the legal blood-alcohol limit.

The 38 year-old Michigan resident was returned to the American side of the border after being charged, and losing her vehicle and licence for a week.

She is due in Sarnia Court on May 27th.
