Goderich Fanshawe Campus Eyes Streaming Courses To Bruce County

Goderich | by Peter Jackson

Official with Fanshawe says streaming already underway, with talks to send courses to Saugeen Shores.

Distance learning is the way of the future for Fanshawe College's Goderich campus, which recently marked its third year of operation.

Fanshawe Academic Services Consultant for Huron-Bruce, Heather MacKenzie-Card says the St. David Street location is looking to further expand its live streaming into Bruce County.

She adds that Fanshawe works with the non-profit organization Contact North, to provide the streaming service.

Contact North is funded by the province, and is a partner in 116 on-line learning centres across Ontario.

MacKenzie-Card says the on-line learning experience is highly interactive, and gives students participating at a distance a sense of belonging to the class.

She mentions some distance students are a bit reluctant to take part in class discussions at first, but quickly adapt to the digital environment.

MacKenzie-Card says plans are under way to stream Fanshawe's successful Business Entrepreneurship and Management program to Saugeen Shores.
