Cigarette butts continue to be the most littered item along the Goderich shoreline.

A shoreline clean-up organized by the Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation last Saturday collected 4,773 butts from the town's Lake Huron and Maitland River shoreline.

Fragments of foam and plastic were the second-most collected item (2,525), followed by plastic bottles (154), and plastic bags (139).

Among the stranger items found during the clean-up were a car windshield, space heater, and a toilet seat.
