Goderich Looking To Host OSUM Conference

Goderich | by Peter Jackson

Councillors vote to invite OSUM back to town, after last hosting in 2016.

The Ontario Small Urban Municipalities organization will receive an invitation from the Town of Goderich to host its 2018 annual conference, but the decision is not unanimous.

The idea is to divide the OSUM conference between the new Comfort Inn hotel and the Maitland Recreation Centre.

Deputy Mayor Myles Murdock is leading the charge for Council to continue courting the organization to hold the meeting in Goderich this summer.

Councillor Trevor Bazinet this week repeated his concern about the possibility of having to remove the ice from MRC, so that the venue can host its part of the three-day gathering.

In a recorded vote of four to two, Council has approved issuing an invitation.

Bazinet and Councillor Shawn Thompson voted against the idea.
