Jones Announces Carbon Tax Stickers

Orangeville | by Phil DeLand

The Dufferin-Caledon MPP was in Orangeville today to display the new stickers that could go on the pumps.

A big announcement in Orangeville this morning from the provincial government.

Dufferin-Caledon MPP Sylvia Jones was at a Shell gas station to explain legislation the Progressive Conservatives are proposing.

If passed, the legislation will require all gas stations across Ontario to display stickers on their pumps that show how much the Federal Carbon Tax is costing.

The blue stickers, show the current cost per litre at 4.4 cents and how much it will cost in 2020 at 11 cents per litre.

Jones explained that Ontario currently leads all Canadian provinces when it comes to greenhouse gas reduction.

She said Ontario has reduced emissions by 25 per cent since 2005 with the Made-In-Ontario Environment Plan projecting an additional 8 per cent reduction.
