Threat Arrest in Saugeen Shores

Police say information received man was in possession of firearm, turned out firearm was not real.

A police presence in Port Elgin earlier this afternoon related to a threat made by a man towards police on social media, Saugeen Shores Police say.

Town Police say information was received that a male was in possession of a firearm and had made threats towards officers on a social media webpage.

Police say the man was located walking on Goderich Street in Port Elgin where officers conducted a "high-risk arrest" of the accused.

Investigation revealed the firearm was not real.

A 34-year-old man faces a charge of uttering a threat to cause death.

Police say he was released from custody with a future court date.
