Chesley residents and visitors will have to deal with another detour as the new Main Street bridge is about to closed to traffic to complete work on the project.
In a news release issued Monday, April 15th, Bruce County's Director of Transportation and Environmental Services Miguel Pelletier says, despite his comments 10-days ago, as heard on Bayshore Broadcasting News, it has been determined that a full closure of the bridge is needed to complete the project.
As of Tuesday, April 23rd, the bridge will be closed completely until late June.
Detours will be in place.
Meanwhile, until April 23rd, the bridge will remain open to traffic with short lane closures and traffic delays during daytime hours.
After that, the bridge is back on a full closure condition until late June.
Pelletier says advance notice will be provided prior to the bridge closure and detour posting.
You may recall the bridge was closed from February to December last year, so the old bridge could be replaced, after being deemed unsafe due to water and ice damage last winter.
