While the value of building permits in Goderich for the first quarter of the year carry a value close to those of the same period in 2018, fewer were issued this January through March.
Chief Building Official Jason Dykstra reported to Council recently that seven permits worth a total $1.72 million were approved for the first three months of 2019.
That compares to the nearly $1.9 million value of 16 permits issued for the first quarter of last year.
Even though the number of permits is down by nearly half, the dollar numbers come close to matching partly because of an institutional permit approved in the winter, with a value of $169 thousand.
Three residential construction permits have gotten the go-ahead so far this year, compared to nine in the winter of 2018, along with one residential demolition permit.
