West Grey is the latest community to welcome a Bruce Power supplier.

BC Instruments (BCI) held a grand opening Tuesday  at its new location  in the old Thuroweb building on Elm Street in Durham.

BCI took ownership of the 14,200 square foot plant with two-storey office in 2018.

Mayor Christine Robinson says it was a well attended event, with BCI officials, Bruce Power President and CEO Mike Rencheck, Grey County Warden Selwyn Hicks and other public officials.

"West Grey council is thrilled to welcome BC Instruments to West Grey. They bring a value with their investments to the community and the contributions that they will make in the future as well."

The company is based out of Schomberg, Ontario and supplies the Aerospace, Defence, Plastic Injection Molding, Medical, Nuclear and Electronic industries.

Robinson says BCI President Roger Conzelmann described Durham as "the perfect location" for his company.

BCI employs over 150 people.

Robinson says it's not yet clear how many jobs could be created, but they've already used the services of some tradespeople in the area, "They're strategically planning for new jobs to come to West Grey over time and it will be a slow and steady growth, and they plan to be in West Grey for a long time."

Robinson is proud to welcome a new company to the fold, "West Grey has a small town vibe, there are excellent amenities, there's wonderful public spaces and it's overall, is just a wonderful community and we certainly will embrace having this company within our community."
