Simcoe County will investigate the financial implications of Bradford-West Gwillimbury separating from the county.
County council approved a motion Tuesday afternoon, proposed by Collingwood mayor Brian Saunderson. It's in response to Bradford's assertion the town would be better off financially if it cut ties with the county. Saunderson says it's not a simple calculation-- for example he wonders if the municipality would pay the county back for investments made in the town -- or pay off a share of the county debt.
A decision on whether the town stays or goes would be up to the province, which is conducting a review of regional governments and service delivery.
