Now for something completely different and it's a first for the municipality.

The Southampton Coliseum is hosting an archery tournament.

Shores Deputy Mayor and Saugeen District Secondary School (SDSS) teacher Don Matheson says it's the first-ever western regional archery tournment.

The competition will see 191 archers from all over mid-western Ontario competing for top prizes.

There are three divisions, Grades 4, 5 and 6; Grades 7 and 8; and a high school division.

Matheson says several schools within the Bluewater District School Board system have archery programs including SDSS and G. C. Huston in Saugeen Shores.

As it turns out two sisters from SDSS--Nicole and Natasha Burrows--have been top archers in Ontario over the past several years.

Competitions get underway at 10am with awards handed out around 3pm.

All are welcome to visit the Coliseum to watch the competition.
