Impaired Driver Tries to Bribe Witness

Caledon | by Phil DeLand

An Orangeville woman tried to bribe a witness to stop them from calling police.

A woman is facing charges after she tried to bribe a witness who was going to report a crash.

Caledon OPP say they were called to the single vehicle crash on Friday at around 11:10pm.

They say a concerned passerby stopped in the area of Kennedy Road just South of Highway 9 in the town of Caledon when they saw a car in the ditch.

Police say the driver of the damaged car was trying to flee the scene and even tried to pay witness to stop them from calling 9-1-1.

The concerned citizen became suspicious and called police.

Officers were able to find the car and the driver, leading to charges against 33-year old Courtney Poynter.

The Orangeville woman is facing an impaired driving charge.
