South Bruce Peninsula council is going to the Wiarton community at large looking for someone to serve on the Board of Management of the Wiarton BIA.
Deputy Mayor Jay Kirkland, who also is council's representative on the Wiarton BIA board, says the board has a 7th seat to fill but there doesn't seem to be much interest among the business community.
Kirkland says they could appoint another council member but says he'd rather see if any public member of the community would be interested in serving on the board.
He says, "It would be nice to have that outside set of eyes to look at it (Wiarton BIA), giving better suggestions."
Council directed staff to advertise the position, looking for the new candidate.
The members of the Board of Management are volunteers and are not paid for their services.
Members of Council who attend Board of Management meetings, every other month if quorum is achieved, are remunerated for their mileage only - expenses through the council budget.
