34 local community members and businesses were honoured this past weekend by the Meaford Chamber of Commerce.
Awards ranging from tourism to farmer of the year were handed out on March 30th as part of the 21st Annual Community Awards.
The Farmer of the Year Award was awarded to Ed Ormsby. Ormsby operates a mixed farming operation as well as volunteers with the Church, the Curling Club and coaches a ball team.
The Most Improved Business Award went to The Frauxmagerie. They have gone from a home-based business to being know internationally.
The Tourism Award was given to Beautiful Joe Heritage Society. The Society has been heavily involved in fund raising and social media promotion.
The Customer Service Award, the category with the most nominations went to The Ear Clinic.
The Argibusiness Award went to Twin Creek Farms for their involvement in local farmers markets and providing the community with a "farm to fork" option.
The Special Merit Award was presented to the Christ Church Anglican Outreach. This church has aided the community through a Community Dinner program, building acceptance and support in the area.
The Business Owner of the Year Award was presented to Meaford Pharmacy-IDA for a combination of their care for the environment, employee relations and dedication to the betterment of the community.
Finally the Peter Francis Memorial Award, This award was presented by the Meaford Chamber of Commerce to Dan White. White is recognized as a community leader and has been known to take a heavy role in economic development, social wellbeing, entertainment and growth within the community.
All the awards were distributed during a dinner held at Meaford Hall. This event has annually took time to praise the community contributions and dedication by not only businesses but their fellow citizens.
