A Collingwood council committee has unanimously decided that the Elvis Festival should go private after this summer.
The 2019 event would be the last one run by the town.
Staff made the recommendation based on continued budget shortfalls and declining attendance over the years.
The new organizer would still have to operate under the current standards and offer traditional activities like the Elvis tribute competition.
The committee's recommendation is to be considered, along with more information requested from staff, by full council at its next meeting next Monday evening.
