Given recent events in Collingwood, police are raising awareness of cannabis edibles.
OPP say that some youth in the town consumed cannabis infused gummies and chocolate and had to be taken to the hospital.
Police say thankfully the young people didn't suffer any long term effects, but this should serve as a reminder to the community that these types of edibles have a delayed effect which could result in over-consumption or to an unintentional overdose.
OPP are concerned about these illegal items getting into the hands of members of the community, especially youth.
Even though marijuana is legal in Canada, the retail sale of pot edibles is not.
