Phase four of the expansion of Living Waters Resort in Collingwood is moving ahead.
On Monday night, council approved an amending Site Plan Control Agreement for an addition of 49 suites and an 82 square metre theatre at the hotel at Balsam and Harbour Streets.
Councillors also made sure that the motion includes that this approval has no connection to or impact on phase five which is an expansion of Bear Estates into a conference centre. That project is on hold.
Two groups had presented to council, before the vote, their concerns about not enough parking as well as regulatory issues and fears that this approval paves the way for the Bear Estates expansion in phase five.
The groups are S.O.S. or Save Our Shoreline as well as the nearby community of Mariners Haven.
The planner for the phase four project of adding suites, Colin Travis, told council and the packed council chambers that they are in compliance with current by-law standards.
Phase four was approved by a 6-3 council vote on Monday.
