Every little bit counts.
During last nights council meeting, town council voted to donate $350 to the 12th Annual Jennifer Widbur Memorial Tournament.
Speaking on behalf of the group that organizes the tournament, was Jennifer’s father, Al.
During his presentation, Al explained that his daughter died at the age of 40 from breast cancer.
The memorial is looking to raise $65-thousand during this year, the final year of the tournament when it runs from April 5th to the 6th.
Teams, players and sponsors can register online ahead of the event at North Dufferin Community Centre, Honeywood ON.
Over the past 11 years, the tournament has raised almost $600-thousand with all the funds supporting cancer care at Headwaters Health Care Centre.
The tournament has also provided support for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Hospice Dufferin, The Humboldt Broncos and Honeywood Minor Hockey.
Councils donation will cover two hours of ice time.
