Saugeen Shores | by John Divinski

Former Mayor Mike Smith had the largest remuneration at over $35,500

If you were a Saugeen Shores taxpayer in 2018, you helped pay for elected officials and selected paying committee positions, to the tune of just over $217,500.

The number includes expenses that were charged to the municipality as well.

Then Mayor Mike Smith had the largest remuneration at over $35,500, which included his participation as a conservation board rep and a planning member.

Deputy Mayor Luke Charbonneau came in around $28,000.

Councillors were paid close to $20,000, when their salary, expenses and extra committee payments were factored in.

The numbers are about the same as they were in 2017 when just over $220,000 was paid out for similar positions.

The latest report was presented to Saugeen Shores council during the Committee of the Whole meeting, March 25th.
