Tiverton | by Ken Hashizume

VP Corporate Affairs & Operational Services James Scongack says the company is in full support.

Bruce Power is in full support of the Provincial Government's plans to modernize the electricity system.

Minister of Energy, Northern Development, and Mines Greg Rickford announced on Thursday, the Ford Government intends to roll back some of the initiatives brought on by the previous Liberal government.

Rickford says hydro rates would remain at the rate of inflation.

Executive VP of Corporate Affairs & Operational Services for Bruce Power, James Scongack says the company  continues to be an innovator in extending the life of its reactors, increasing its generating output and the number of medical isotopes.

He says Bruce Power is supportive of an agenda that includes nuclear power that provides low-cost electricity to homes and businesses for many years.

Scongack says the province wouldn't be able to eliminate coal without nuclear power.

He says 70 percent of the energy to phase out coal came from Bruce Power.

Scongack says Bruce Power wants to be a company that is focused on solutions ranging from providing low-cost electricity to jobs and the economy.
