A rookie councillor in Grey Highlands intends to seek the Green Party nomination for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound.

Danielle Valiquette says she never anticipated taking a run in the 2019 federal election, but feels there is an opportunity for the Green Party to thrive in the riding in wake of the announcement by sitting Conservative MP Larry Miller he won't seek re-election.

Valiquette is only months into her first term as a councillor in Grey Highlands. She also sits on the Grey Highlands Library Board and the Grey Highlands Community Development Advisory Committee.

A mother of three, Valiquette resides with her husband on a horse farm near Ceylon and comes from a background in information technology. She formerly worked as a business analyst.
