UPDATE (MARCH 19, 2019):

A new way to vote and deadline has been administered by Cross Country Canada after an issue arose with how one contestant was receiving votes. The Cross Country Canada Facebook page now shows a SurveyMonkey link to bring forth fare voting practices.

The extended deadline is  Wednesday, March 20th, at 2:59 p.m.

A 7 year old Cross Country Skiing - Artist from Saugeen Shores is asking for a little help next time you log onto Facebook.

Kate Burridge - MacDonald has been skiing with the Bruce Ski Club for five years and is one of ten contestants in an art contest for the "Jackrabbit" ski level (ages 5-9).

Kate is the only entrant from Ontario and if her photo gets the most "likes" on Facebook then Cross Country Canada will place her artwork on toques given out to youth Cross Country Skiers.

"I drew a skiing polar bear," says Kate. "It's smiling and looking up in the sky at a little chickadee."

She says it "would be amazing" if her artwork was chosen for the toques.

"I chose the polar bear because it is a Canadian symbol and it loves being outside, just like me."

Her mother Tabitha says her daughters favourite trails are in Hepworth and Kate enjoys art camps at the Southampton Art School.

She says it's really exciting that Kate has been chosen as a top ten finalist.

"We're really proud of her, whether it makes it onto a toque, it's really cute artwork and we think it will look nice on a hat... but we're a little biased."

The contest ends Monday, March 18.
