Warm weather has prompted a water safety advisory from the Ausable Bayfield and Maitland Valley Conservation Authorities.
Officials say rainfalls Thursday, combined with warmer-than-normal temperatures, will result in quickly rising river levels.
Most of the snowpack in the Ausable Bayfield and Maitland River watersheds is expected to disappear throughout the day.
Although major flooding is not anticipated, with frozen ground conditions, a rapid runoff can be expected.
The Ausable River will peak in the Port Franks area on Saturday, with an additional risk of ice jam related flooding.
ABCA officials remind you all river and lake ice should now be considered unsafe, and to be cautious around faster-moving waterways.
The Water Safety advisory will remain in place until Monday.
