Winterhawks Even Series with Radars

Flager with 44 saves; Ripley draws first blood in their "AA" semifinal opener.

The Saugeen Shores Winterhawks have tied up their best of 7 semifinal WOAA Sr. hockey series with Clinton at 1, following a 4-1 victory over the Radars at the Plex on Saturday night.

The Hawks played one of their best games of the season and coach Matt Turcotte couldn't be happier.

Turcotte says they needed goalie Jeff Flagler to come up with some huge saves at times and his work earned him the Player of the Game award.

Flager faced 44 shots in the game.

The Radars lost their second goalie in as many games--this time to what appeared to be a groin pull.

In the first game Clinton lost its starting goalie when he received a match penalty.

He has since been suspended for three games.

Coach Turcotte guarantees both teams will be ready to go next weekend when the series resumes.

The third game in the series goes Friday night in Clinton.

Game time is 8:30pm.

The fourth game is back at the Plex in Saugeen Shores on Sunday, March 10th, at 6pm.

The winner of this series will go on to meet the winner of the Durham/Ripley series, for the league championship.

The Wolves opened up that best-of-seven with a 6-2 victory over the Thundercats on Saturday.
