Huron County has turned down a $1 million loan request from Huron Residential Hospice.
At the latest meeting of county council, elected officials voted not to approve the seven-figure loan.
Hospice officials say the loan would have repurposed some of the existing bedrooms, and expanded the four-bed hospice to make room for six beds.
Co-Chair of the Board of Directors at Huron Hospice, Jay McFarlan, calls the news "disappointing."
Since opening in May 2018, Huron Hospice has provided care for 42 residents and their families with 24/7 professional nurses on-site.
