Province Initiative Aims To Help People Find Work

Owen Sound | by Ken Hashizume

Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker believes a revamped website will help connect job seekers to employers.

The Province has come up with ways to help job seekers.

One is relaunching a labour market information website that will have 500 job profiles to help connect businesses to skilled workers.

Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker says what he has been hearing is that job seekers have been having difficulty finding those opportunities.

He says Merilee Fullerton, the Minister of Training, College, and Universities, is also looking at ways to manage the employment system more effectively.

Walker says it is incumbent on his government to provide those tools and resources.

He says this will help people in their ability to find good full-time work.

Walker says there have been people who have been with one company and are now out of work.

He says they want to try and help people with transferable skills make the transition to other employment.
