Grey County OPP Say Don't Drive

Grey County | by Claire McCormack

Police say driving conditions are not good in Grey County and to stay put if you can for now.

Grey County OPP are urging people to avoid traveling during the current winter storm.

Police say it is not safe to travel and note they have received numerous reports of stranded vehicles.

According to OPP, county and municipal snowplows may not be operating either due to the dangerous driving conditions.

Currently, the following roads are closed due to high winds and blowing snow causing poor to nil visibility and hazardous driving conditions as of 11 a.m.  For live-updated conditions throughout the day click HERE

Police say driving on a closed road is not only illegal; it's dangerous. They say doing so puts you and your passengers at risk - they add it also puts police and all emergency responders at risk who come to the aid of stranded drivers.

All drivers are encouraged to check weather and road conditions by calling 511 or by checking online at www. 511on.ca for current road conditions for provincially maintained highways.

They say to monitor local media outlets as well as individual municipal web-sites.
