Warming Centres Open In Owen Sound

Owen Sound | by Claire McCormack

The city is providing places to warm up and to stay out of the windy winter weather.

The City of Owen Sound is reminding people there are warming centres available during the extremely windy weather.

The Bayshore Community Centre and Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre will be closing at 4:00pm. All rentals have been cancelled and all rental contract holders have been notified. The Barclay Room at OSPS remains open as a warming station.

Residents are encouraged to protect themselves from the wind and to dress warmly, stay dry, seek shelter and plan ahead.

Emergency shelter services are provided by the County of Grey through YMCA Housing Services. Those seeking emergency shelter are encouraged to contact YMCA Housing Services at 519-371-9230.

Safe’n Sound also provides emergency shelter services and those requiring support may call 519-470-2222 between the hours of 4:30pm and 10:00pm.

Residents requiring assistance are also reminded to call 211 for additional warming center or emergency shelter information. 211 is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
