Thousands Without Power Across Huron County

Huron County | by Fadi Didi

100 km/h winds knock out power across Ontario's West Coast. Restoration expected later Monday.

Thousands are starting their work week in the dark, as a massive wind storm sweeps through Ontario.

Over 1,500 customers in Huron County were without lights Monday morning, following overnight wind gusts over 100 kilometres an hour.

According to Environment Canada, higher wind gusts of 120 kilometres an hour were possible along the shores of the Great Lakes.

About 593 customers are without power in the area between Bayfield and Holmesville, while over 100 are in the dark in the north end of Goderich.

Close to 400 customers lost power overnight around Brussels, along with 60+ around Winthrop, Grand Bend, and Dashwood.

Hydro One hopes to have the power back on by 11:00 p.m. Monday.
