Dragon's Den's Dickinson In Owen Sound

Arlene Dickinson will give an evening talk about youth, women, entrepreneurs and philanthropy.

Canadian Award winning entrepreneur Arlene Dickinson of Dragon's Den Fame will be in Owen Sound in April.

As part of Community Foundation Grey Bruce's 25th anniversary, Dickinson will give an evening talk at East Ridge Community School in on April 12th.

Local Community Foundation Executive Director Stuart Reid says Dickinson's talk will coincide with the Foundation's release of a Vital Focus on Youth Report that's been two years in the making.

Dickinson will give a talk on youth in a changing work culture, women in business, entrepreneurship and her own story in relation to community philanthropy.  

"Arlene is so well poised to talk about the challenges of the changing nature of work in our country and opportunities for entrepreneurs and women in business and her own commitment to community philanthropy."

Dickinson is best known as one of the venture capitalist "Dragons" on the award-winning series Dragons' Den.

She also has a new CBC prime time series called Under New Management.

Dickinson is the author of two bestselling books-Persuasion, and All In.

She has been honoured with numerous awards including Canada's Most Powerful Women Top 100 Award, the Pinnacle Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence, as well as being recognized with PROFIT and Chatelaine magazine's TOP 100 Women Business Owners Awards.

She also sits on numerous public and private boards and is dedicated to giving back to her community and country.

Local Community Foundation Executive Director Stuart Reid says, "Arlene Dickinson will be the perfect speaker to kickstart a conversation about the future of our community.  She will inspire young people to step into leadership with commitment and creativity."

The event is sponsored by RBC Future Launch it will wrap up a day of activities for young people around the release of the Foundation's Vital Focus on Youth report.

Reid says they'll have a capacity of around 750 seats.
