Spirit Dampened the Attack

Saginaw | by Ken Hashizume

Busdeker's two goals allowed Saginaw to extend their win streak to six.

It was not the way the Owen Sound Attack wanted to start the long weekend road trip.

They fell 6-1 to the Saginaw Spirit on Friday night in the opener of their 3-game road trip.

Saginaw built a 3-0 lead on goals by DJ Busdeker (2 goals), Owen Tippett (1 goal, 1 assist), and Cole Coskey.

The Spirit would continue the onslaught with 3 more in the second period from Albert Michnac, Cole Perfetti (1 goal, 1 assist), and Busdeker to go up 6-0.

The Attack's lone goal came off the stick of Igor Chibrikov with 46 seconds left in the third period.

Ivan Prosvetov stopped 34 shots for the Spirit (36-14-2-2) who are now on a 6-game win streak.

Andrew MacLean had 35 saves for the Attack (27-24-2-2) who saw their 2-game win streak snapped.

Both teams went 0-for-2 on the power play.

The next game for the Attack is Saturday night against the Firebirds in Flint.

You can hear that game on 560 CFOS with Terry's Trailer Service/KIA of Owen Sound Bear Radio starting with the pre-game show at 6:30.
