Local Officer Accepts Award for Community Work

Shelburne Police Constable Jeff McLean honoured for Law Enforcement Torch Run work.

A local police officer was given an award recently for his hard work in the community.

Shelburne Police Constable Jeff McLean received the award for Highest Gross Revenue Increase in Ontario for his work through the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.

McLean took over the lead role organizing the local Torch Run, and also the Polar Plunge for Special OIympics.

In the two years since McLean took on the position, funds raised in Shelburne went up 40% from $20,000 in 2017, to over $32,000 last year - the highest percentage increase in the province.

Constable McLean accepted the award on behalf of the Shelburne Police Service and says the community support for the Special Olympics has been phenomenal year after year.

McLean is also now the regional co-ordinator for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the region, a volunteer position, spanning Waterloo and Guelph, to Grey, Dufferin, and Owen Sound areas.
