Women's Business Pitch Competition In Huron County Expands

Huron County | by Fadi Didi

Pitch for women entrepreneurs to include children's business pitches for third annual competition.

A business pitch competition for women in Huron County is expanding.

The third annual S.O.U.P., Women’s Pitch Competition will move to Goderich's Livery Theatre this March, after being held at the Huron County Museum's auditorium the previous two years.

Social Enterprise and Small Business Coach Nicki Darbyson says this year's pitch competition will also involve an event for kids.

The "Be Your Own Boss: Change the World" pitch competition is open to entrepreneurs in grades 4-8 across Huron County with business ideas ranging from dog-walking services to creating world peace.

Those finalists have a chance to win $500.

Darbyson says the kids business pitch will precede the women's pitch competition, where a female entrepreneur will win cash, business training, and marketing resources.

The Be Your Own Boss and S.O.U.P Competition runs March 21st at The Livery Theatre, in Goderich.

Interested entrepreneurs can apply by e-mailing EconomicDevelopment@huroncounty.ca, or calling 519-524-8394 ext. 6.
