Mayor Chris Peabody is using the delegation with the Honourable Sylvia Jones
as opportunity to discuss a few of Brockton’s concerns in the area of
Correctional Services.

This includes the need for upgrades to the Walkerton Court House as well as
the importance of the Province’s ongoing support for two court related grants
Brockton receives.

In the case of the Walkerton Court House, Peabody says the aging building is
in need of upgrades, adding there is also an additional safety concern as the
Court House does not have a single entry point.

As for the funding concerns, Peabody wants to stress just how important
it is that Brockton continue to receive Prisoner Transportation as well as Court
Security Costs grant dollars from the Ministry.

Peabody says Brockton is raising this issue because of the payment delays the
municipality had to face over the past year.

Peabody is looking forward to his meeting with Minister Sylvia Jones and is
hopeful it will be fruitful meeting.

The ROMA Conference runs form January 27th, to January
