Chesley resident Chad Richards currently serves as legislative assistant to the Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP

A legislative assistant to MP Larry Miller wants to succeed him as the Conservative nominee in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound.

Chad Richards announced his candidacy on Monday.

Richards is a resident of Chesley and a graduate of Carleton University with Honours Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and French.

He has been serving as Miller's assistant for the past seven years.

In a news release, Richards says he hopes to bring an experienced, fresh, energetic, and enthusiastic voice to Ottawa.

Richards is the second candidate vying for the Tory nomination in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound joining Tara native and retired Colonel Alex Ruff who announced his candidacy moments after Miller said he would not be seeking reelection in this fall's federal election.
