Apply For Several Community Improvement Plan Grants In Gravenhurst

You can apply for several grants in Gravenhurst through a unique community improvement plan.

The plan assists building and business owners within the downtown core that helps property owners improve the look and viability of their buildings.

Since the program’s inception, over $250,000 in grants has been approved, which has leveraged over $2,000,000 in downtown improvements. 

“We are excited about the opportunity to continue to assist our businesses and property owners improve the look and viability of our downtown, and ensure Gravenhurst’s history is preserved through much needed building improvements, ” says Jeff Loney, Gravenhurst's manager of economic development.  “As more people move to Gravenhurst and more businesses look for space, this program can also assist in creating these much needed spaces.”

What types of projects can be applied for this year?

 

•           Planning Application Fee and Building Permit Fee Rebates

•           Study and Development Planning Work

•           Building Façade Improvements

•           Accessibility, Building Code and Fire Code Improvements

•           Landscaping and Property Improvements

•           New or Revitalized Signs

•           Residential and Commercial Unit Development/Redevelopment

•           Development Charge Rebates

•           Tax Increment Financing for New Developments.

 

Eligible businesses or buildings must be located within the Community Improvement Area (www.gravenhurst.ca/cip) and cannot have any outstanding taxes or orders on the property. 

Projects must also follow the façade guidelines which encourage a more cohesive and inviting look and feel in the downtown.  Applicants must include two quotes for work being undertaken and have completed a pre-consultation with staff to answer any questions and ensure project criteria and required information is included in the application. 

Completed applications must be received before 4:00 PM on April 1, 2019. Results will be released following the May Council meeting, after the grants are approved. Applications can be found atwww.gravenhurst.ca/cip or by visiting Town Office. 

Potential applicants are welcome to make an appointment with the Economic Development team by calling 705-687-3412 Ext.280, or they can attend an Information Session, Wednesday February 27th, at 5:00 p.m. in the Gravenhurst Council Chambers.
