Calls to 9-1-1 Rise In Huron County In 2018

Huron County | by Peter Jackson

Chief of EMS Services says calls to 9-1-1 dispatch took a 15% jump over previous year.

The Chief of Huron County Emergency Services is looking for reasons why there were 16 hundred more 9-1-1 calls last year, compared to 2017.

Jeff Horseman reported to Council that there were 15.5 per-cent more emergency calls in 2018 than were placed in the previous year.

The frequency of calls to 9-1-1 reflect the populations in individual municipalities.

Of the 12 thousand 9-1-1 calls across Huron last year, 23 hundred originated in Goderich for the highest of any municipality.

Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh and Howick Townships had the lowest, with fewer than 500 each.
