In WOAA Senior Hockey, the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks won their final regular season home game, edging the Shelburne Muskies, 4-3.
The Hawks and the Durham Thundercats are now tied for 3rd place in the standings and both teams go head to head on Saturday in Durham.
Durham also has one game in hand.
On Friday's game at the Plex, coach Matt Turcotte admits the squad started out sluggish, but the bottom line is, at the end of 60-minutes they won the game.
The Hawks had four different goal scorers, with Player of the Game Bryan Kazarian picking up a goal in his 200th game for the team.
Other scorers were: Andy Fracz, Lauchlin Elder and Adam Little.
During his post-game comments, Coach Turcotte had a message for the naysayers in Saugeen Shores and elsewhere.
He says he's kind of "tired" about the way people have been talking about the team and "try to nitpick the way we play."
Turcotte says the Hawks are one of the best teams in the league when it comes to Goals Against and he says the squad is in the thick of it and a lot of people didn't expect that, but he says, he did.
Turcotte says he hears people in Saugeen Shores saying how bad the team supposedly is and he's getting a little hot under the collar with the negatives.
His message is, the team is just fine and they will answer the bell when the playoffs start on February 1st.
