Collingwood Council Votes To Record Closed Meetings

Collingwood | by Catherine Thompson

Collingwood council will record in-camera meetings.

The new Collingwood council has made a change to its procedural by-law.

Following an in-camera meeting on Monday evening, council publicly voted 7 to 2 in favour of amending the by-law to include audio recording every closed door meeting and where possible video them as well.

There will be limited access to the recordings and they will be used for investigation purposes only.

This motion was put forward by Councillor Steve Berman.

He also put forward a motion to extend publishing of voting and attendance records of council members to committee meetings on top of council meetings. The information will go on the town's website.

Council passed this motion unanimously on Monday night.
