Attack Drop First of Two in Erie

Erie | by Ken Hashizume

Otters' Cajka completes Gordie Howe hat trick with game-winning goal in OT.

A tough start to the weekend for the Owen Sound Attack in Erie.

Petr Cajka scored 3:56 into overtime to give the Erie Otters a 2-1 victory over the Attack on Friday night.

Cajka (1 goal, 1 assist) tapped in a shot from Gene Poddubnyi that squeaked past goaltender Mack Guzda (17 saves).

Earlier in the game, Cajka fought with Daniel Groulx to complete the Gordie Howe hat trick.

Collingwood native Emmett Sproule opened the scoring at the 5:34 mark of the first period for a 1-0 Otters lead.

Jackson Doherty would answer for the Attack (22-15-2-2) 6 minutes later to tie the game at 1-1.

Daniel Murphy stopped 24 shots for the Otters (17-21-1-1) who extend their win streak to 3 games.

Each team went 0-for-1 on the power play.

The same two teams play again on Saturday night in Erie.

You can hear that game on 560 CFOS with Terry's Trailer Service/KIA of Owen Sound Bear Radio starting with the pre-game show at 6:30 PM.
