Police Searching for Man Who Stole Groceries

He was last seen being picked up in a black SUV...

Barrie Police are looking to identify a man who tried to steal a cart full of groceries and when approached by the store’s Loss Prevention Officer (LPO), walked away towards a parking lot and a waiting vehicle.

On Monday, January 7th at 5 pm a man was seen filling a cart with almost $400 worth of groceries and then exiting the store, making no attempt to pay for the items in the cart.

The store’s Loss Prevention Officer followed him outside and tried to arrest him. The man then left the cart and walked away from the LPO, leaving all the items in the cart.

The man was last seen being picked up by a black SUV in the parking lot of a hardware store.

The suspect is described as:

Male, black
Approximately 6’2” tall
Heavy build
Black beard

Wearing grey track pants, navy blue jacket and a black baseball hat
