It’s a day of celebration and excitement as the Hanover and District Hospital unveils its much fought for and long awaited CT Scanner.
Hospital President Katrina Wilson warmly welcomes everyone to come out and join in the festivities between 2 and 4 pm this afternoon in the Hospital Lobby.
The Grand Opening celebration will include a ribbon cutting ceremony, tours of the new CT scanner suite and celebratory cake.
Wilson admits at times it was an uphill battle but all of that hardwork over the last two years has paid off now that the CT Scanner is in place.
None of this could have happened without the generous 1.5 million dollar donation from Hospital supporters Henry and Barb Lansink which covered both the cost of the CT scanner as well as the renovations to the room that houses the equipment.
Today's celebration is also the Hospital's way of thanking the community for their support.
This support included: a community rally for the CT Scanner, a local post card and letter writing campaign lobbying the LHIN to approve the CT request as well as a bus trip to a LHIN Board of Director meeting to showcase local support for a CT Scanner at HDH. Wilson says the CT scanner is all about enhanced patient care, as the new technology will greatly assist HDH’s Emergency Department which is the busiest ER in the South Grey Bruce region.
The CT Scanner will also enhance patient outcomes as patients will no longer need to be transferred by ambulance to another facility for a CT scan and weather will no longer be a factor in that journey.
With the increase in surgical volumes, Wilson says the CT scanner will also benefit the surgical department especially when it comes to complex cases.
Having a CT scanner on site says Wilson is truly a standard of sound Emergency care.
Our CT Open House is tomorrow at 2pm and we thought we would post a sneak peek because we are just that excited. Check out the entryway into the CT Scanner room. #CTOpenHouse pic.twitter.com/MpsZpAOK4Z— HDHospital (@HDHospital) January 10, 2019
